Diane 30th April 2020

Oh Dad, I am trying so hard to stay positive and remember just how lucky we all are to have had you as our dad, grandad, father in law etc etc and for so long too. 89 eh what a faboulous innings! You passed onto me so much, and not just the lazy eye gene! Your love of travel, your curiosity to go further than just the simple destination, to just peek around the next corner and the next corner and maybe just one more corner, to always try other roads and routes not just the obvious onesand of course your determination and independence. Every place I visited I wanted so much to share them with you. All those late night journeys home to Berkshire after the London family gatherings You would always say "You can't get lost in London" and would find ways to show us your beloved London, driving past as many famous landmarks as possible with 3 or 4 exhausted sleepy but excited children in the back of the car and we would all fall about with laughter as you hit the different one way systems and dead ends and ultimately ended up every time completely "lost in London" . I am so comforted to know that we did travel together to some crazy impromptu places on some crazy impromptu journeys - India was a blast. Sri Lanka became yet another home for you, the family totally accepted you from the start, everyone knew you and watched out for you. Remember that time when you walked down a beach away from our village and a security guard walked up to you and said "Hello Mr Peter" . To this day I still have no idea who that was and nor did you but you were so loved and respected there. Language had no barrier with you. You did so much despite all your numerous "afflictions" with mum by your side you were invincible. You were always up for anything and lived life to the full. The foundations you built are so, so strong but the gap you have left is enormous. Love you Dad xxxx
